Don’t Let Your Brain Shrink

This is not a metaphorical statement, if you make the wrong dietary choices, your brain will shrink. That's bad. Current research has demonstrated that elderly individuals with higher levels of several vitamins and omega 3 fatty acids in their blood performed better on mental acuity tests and had less brain shrinkage that is commonly associated with Alzheimer's disease. A "junk food" diet, on the other hand, produced a less mentally acute shrunken brain. The brains that had the greatest cerebral volume and best cognitive outcome had the highest amounts of marine fatty acids and vitamins B, C, D, and E

The study was conducted by scientists from the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Ore., and the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University and was published in the journal Neurology, the main medical publication of the American Academy of Neurology.

The authors of the study declare:

"This approach clearly shows the biological and neurological activity that's associated with actual nutrient levels, both good and bad.
